Varieties of Succulent Plants

That Are Safe for Pets and Children

If you have small children or “fur babies” in your home, you always want to be cautious about any and everything you bring into your environment that curious little ones may tend to mistake as a snack! The following is a list of just a few of the many succulent plants in a range of colors and textures that will brighten your home while maintaining an atmosphere that is safe for every member of the family!

Hen and Chicks

The whimsical name for this evergreen succulent is a nod to its distinct composition: clusters of small rosettes (chicks) grow in a circular pattern around the larger (mother hen) plant. This type of succulent tends to be small and grows best in rocky soil that is well-drained. Hens and Chicks grow well when subjected to plenty of direct sun. There are many variations of Hens and Chicks, so double check with an expert at your local nursery or gardening supply store to be sure you choose a variety that is safe for pets and children.
