Coffee Grounds Your garden will love the nutrients from your used coffee grounds. However, the caffeine is potent for ants. Regularly applied in areas where you think ants emerge, coffee grounds will drive them away.

Spice It Up Most of the mixtures mentioned can be cranked up a notch with the addition of pepper flakes or liquid hot pepper sauce. You can also add paprika or cayenne to shoo away annoying bugs. Other strong-smelling spices have the same effect. Try cinnamon, cloves or thyme in your concoctions. Garden Buggers You definitely want to focus on all-natural options near vegetable gardens so you’re not eating chemicals. For slugs, put beer in a tall cup. They will slide in but won’t be able to get back out. If aphids are enjoying your garden buffet, introduce ladybugs, which you can pick up at any garden center or online. The ladybugs will feast on the aphids without damaging your plants. With summer activities well under way, drive out the rodents and bugs by focusing on non-toxic ingredients, natural predators, and plants that are already armed for battle.
